Scratching your head trying to understand how to generate leads without cold calling?
Wondering if there is a better way than smiling, dialing and crossing your fingers hoping you make a sale? If so then this post on how to generate leads without cold calling will be just what you need.
Whether you’re selling real estate, doing network marketing or traditional sales or business this will be relevant to you in virtually any industry. First I’ll talk about some flaws with the strategy, then talk a little about my experience with it and finally how I get leads now instead of cold calls.
So here is the question on everyone’s minds…
Is cold calling DEAD?
The answer may lay in the fact that a lot people won’t even answer their calls to a stranger or an unknown number, even some business owners I know operate in this way. The biggest problem is that people don’t like to be sold, especially without their permission which is what cold calling essentially is.
If you DO cold call, then make sure your message is short and to the point. The purpose of the call should just be to peak somebody’s interest or curiosity. It also helps if you reach out to people in the same neighbourhood or a similar profession to you, as if you have a few things in common when you call you will get less resistance. Ideally if the phone call can be two minutes or less then you’ll get a better response.
Now if you’re like me and you do NOT want to cold call then this is your lucky day! Now I could be here all day sharing with you hundreds of strategies on how to generate leads without cold calling, but here are my top three:
- Facebook – this is like networking on drugs! You can connect with a lot more people who are your ideal prospects a lot faster. Facebook displays (depending on that person’s privacy settings) information about that person, what they do, where they live etc. so you can find your ‘match’ before you even talk to them.
- YouTube – I love this strategy as I have generated thousands of leads online, most of them came to me rather than me chasing them down. They also search for a topic they are interested in and find my videos so I know they are actively wanting more information about me and how I can help them.
- Blogging – blogs are great places for people to get to know you, as well as request updates about upcoming blog posts (a lead magnet will also get you more leads if you have one!). Once you create content on a blog it stays ‘evergreen’ and is there for a long time, unlike social media posts that may get buried amongst all the ‘noise’ out there.
Some great ways to communicate with people if you’re new however is to create interest with people you may know using some scripts. Here’s my Network Marketing Recruiting Scripts and MLM Prospecting Scripts if you’re a home business owner. If you’re in another profession such as real estate where you’re not recruiting, then by all means use the scripts and tweak them more so you are just asking for referrals.
If you’re in another profession such as real estate where you’re not recruiting, then by all means use the scripts and tweak them more so you are just asking for referrals. Just always be sure to retain the relationship and not get emotionally attached if it is a yes or a no.
