Okay I am going to admit this first of all…social media is an exceptional way of finding and connecting with real people that share your interests and passions. It’s a phenomenal way of creating a list of contacts that you can collaborate with on a consistent basis.
However using social media could actually be hindering your MLM business (if you’re doing it wrong!), and today I am going to explain how this might happen and how to avoid it.
As Network Marketers we have been conditioned into being excited about our business and promoting it to everyone we can, especially those who have had Attraction Marketing training. If you own a Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn or other social networking accounts in order to connect with business contacts you will probably have received junk from so called ‘marketers’ pitching you on their latest and greatest deal. Why am I mentioning this?
If you have been guilty of sending people messages (including via email, IM etc.) about your business, nobody wants to hear it UNLESS they asked you for it. By doing this you’re potentially tarnishing your name, brand and reputation on social media…this is why you could be kicking yourself in the nuts when it comes to marketing your MLM.
As previously stated, social media is going to allow you to brand and market yourself online in front of people with your mutual interests. Once you have built a list of quality contacts, don’t scare them off by talking about your company. If you’re like me and you use social media on a regular basis to sponsor distributors, don’t focus on making a sale; focus on whether there’s a sale to be made!
To summarise, you will either want to be using social media to build a large list of contacts, establishing your presence and brand or marketing to those who are interested in your business. I personally do all three – with the main objective being the third option. Social media right now is KILLER…capitalise on it the right way the first time round and don’t shoot yourself in the foot from day one!
